Bridlington Lifeboat – Update
Phase 1 of the whole project, the increase width of the Promenade, was completed in the Autumn 2016 and has made a significant impact already in the area.
Phase 2, the construction work on the new RNLI Lifeboat Station boathouse, is now well underway with the roof on the main building scheduled to be covered in by the end of January 2017.
At this moment of time the external brickwork and blockwork still needs to receive its external rendering but as the artists impression shows it will blend in with the existing Spa.
The new boathouse is on target to be completed by the end of June 2017 and will be handed over to the Bridlington Station; preparations will then be put in hand ready for the arrival of the new Shannon Class lifeboat which is scheduled for the Autumn 2017.
Before the Shannon arrives intense crew training will be required not only for the new lifeboat but the new tractor and carriage unit which will launch and recover the new lifeboat.
2017 is not only an exciting time for the Bridlington Station but an important milestone in the history of Bridlington Lifeboat.
